Digitalization means that data traffic is increasing rapidly in the Netherlands and the construction of new networks such as 5G is essential for companies. This requires radio frequencies, such as the 3,5 GHz band. The Netherlands, where mobile internet is among the best in Europe, has an EU obligation to make this frequency band available as soon as possible for national mobile communication for the purpose of offering 5G technology. The desirable 3,5 GHz band for 5G connections should finally go under the hammer in the Netherlands. The extra space to offer national mobile communication such as 5G everywhere in the Netherlands will become available from 1 December this year.
Data plays an increasingly important role in our world and economy. Mobile data is often the standard nowadays, making a stable and reliable network essential. In use cases where the demand for the amount of data is high or where the availability is essential for the (business) processes, the need for a Private 4G and 5G network will increase. In the Netherlands, the situation regarding private networks is rather complex and mainly 4G networks are currently being rolled out. But we are at a tipping point. It was recently announced that spectrum will become available in the 3,5 GHz band at the end of this year, so that we can also roll out 5G networks in the Netherlands that meet the requested specifications.
5G technology offers the possibility to set up private networks in addition to public networks. A private 5G network is a network that has been set up specifically for a particular organization or company, giving it more control over the users, data traffic and the devices on the network. Sufficient radio spectrum is needed to set up a private 5G network. This particularly impacts the necessary high bandwidth, low latency and flexibility to support and optimize advanced IoT applications and business processes.
Private 5G networks can be especially interesting for companies that want to use advanced IoT applications such as monitoring machines, tracking logistics processes and implementing smart buildings. A private 5G network can provide better reliability, security and speed of data transmission because there is less congestion and interference than public networks. In addition, a private 5G network can also be used, for example, to provide remote areas with a reliable wireless connection, such as in shipping, the oil and gas industry, or in mining. This makes it possible to monitor and communicate remotely, increasing safety and efficiency. Setting up a private 5G network requires expertise in network infrastructure and security.
5G must transcend the limitations of 4G and Wi-Fi. Not as a replacement but as an ideal addition. With 5G, the intelligence is in the network, while with WiFi it must come from the connected devices. In this way, 5G is better able to maintain the connection when you change antennas, which makes 5G connections inherently more stable, faster and also safer because the data is shielded. 5G makes possible what is not yet possible with WiFi and 4G. Think of autonomous devices that have to make a decision in a fraction of a second. Everything that 'moves' benefits from 5G technology.
Together with our partner Capestone we offer a complete Private 4G LTE / 5G portfolio that consists of hardware, network design, installation and service level agreements through our own Network Operation Center. More information can be found in our Capestone webshop / about the technology, or get in touch with our sales engineers via sales@comgate.io
To use a private mobile network, you need a SIM card that has been specially configured by us for this network. Because the network is non-public and completely separate from the mobile network operators, you use a private LTE/5G SIM card.
